Social Groups

Purpose
As explained in the Double Empathy Problem, neurodivergent people tend to find it much easier to make friends with, communicate with and connect with other neurodivergent people. We run these groups to enable neurodivergent children to spend time with each other doing activities they enjoy so they can build friendships and support networks. Please note that the social groups are neurodiversity affirming and so we will not be 'teaching' social skills.

Location
All social groups take place at our Hub in Beaconsfield with a maximum of 12 children attending each session.

Meeting Needs
Our staff are experienced at working with neurodivergent children and supporting their individual needs. Children attending our social groups will have access to our sensory tents and all our regulation resources, e.g. punch bag, swing, trampoline etc. We have a video we send out to all children attending beforehand where they can see the venue and learn more about what will happen. If your child needs any specific accommodations, please let us know.

Suitability
All children attending the social groups need to be able to participate in a group environment safely. Children may attend whether they have a formal diagnosis or not and whether they are aware of any diagnosis or not.

Staff
All social groups are led by an experienced member of staff with at least one other adult or youth mentor assisting. All members of staff are neurodivergent themselves.

Booking
Places are offered on a first come, first served basis and payment must be made in advance.

Cost
Social groups are 2 hours in duration and cost £20 per child.
